Business as usual!

11th March 2008

It has been some time since I gave you all a real update on what we have been doing down here in Exeter. I haven’t had much time as things are getting busier with both an increase in membership applications and the time spent planning and running the Association's events.

There have been two Mortgage Business Expo’s; two training days (one introduction to leasing and asset finance and one introduction to commercial finance); one Regional Workshop; and the first Meet the Patrons Day. There has also been a meeting of the Compliance Forum, two Gala Dinners (thank you Business Money and FLA) and an Awards Lunch (thank you Business Moneyfacts) so during the last six weeks, I have probably met around 300 of our members plus two thirds of our Patrons. We are continuing to increase the Association’s profile wherever we go.

So, what’s next? I am meeting this week with Vince Cable MP, Lib Dem Shadow Chancellor, to talk commercial finance and regulation.  We are also now in the final planning stage for the Northern Workshop in York on the 16th of April, as well as attending Commercial Mortgage Introducer events in Newcastle (10th April), Manchester (15th April) and London (22nd April). Finally, at the end of the month, there is the Niche Conference at which NACFB Director, Kevin Jones, from Omega Financial Services is kindly giving me a rest and giving the NACFB keynote speech.

In amongst all of this we are making firm plans for the AGM and Gala Dinner  - the date will be the 28th of November and the venue the same as last year - The Celtic Manor Resort - so put the date in your diary and watch this space for more details coming soon.
