First-ever NACFB Networking Day a runaway success!

3rd July 2007

The first-ever NACFB Networking Day was held on 28th of June at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel and was unanimously declared a resounding success. The event was attended by over 150 commercial finance brokers and there were stands from more than 30 exhibitors.
The aim of the day was to introduce lenders and brokers to each other in an informal atmosphere, to encourage brokers to look outside their usual familiar lender partners when sourcing finance.

Chief Executive of the NACFB, Adam Tyler, said: "The response we’ve had from this event has been fantastic. Both brokers and lenders found it a really worthwhile experience and the feedback has been really positive."

"The day was designed to benefit NACFB member brokers; they could meet a number of lenders from all sectors of the commercial market: lessors, factors, buy-to-let mortgage lenders and commercial mortgage lenders; informally and face to face. It was a fantastic opportunity for brokers to expand their horizons; existing relationships were strengthened and new relationships built. Lenders, too, found it useful to market to a very specific, targeted audience. The day was an experiment to see if the format worked – but judging from the response, we’ll certainly be running more events like it in the future."
Tyler continued: "We want to help our members to offer their clients the best advice and source finance from as wide a range of lenders as possible. By bringing our Patrons together under one roof for a day means they can meet as many people as possible without taking too much time out of their busy schedules."

But it wasn’t just the brokers who were impressed. Lenders and lessors found the event productive too. Andrew Bullard, Sales Director, State Securities said: "I was impressed with the number and quality of the brokers who visited the recent NACFB Networking Day in Birmingham where we exhibited as a Patron. We have already been in touch with the new contacts we met on the day and I'm looking forward to generating asset based lending business with them in the near future. As a result, we will certainly be supporting similar such events."

Paul Sheedy, Sales Director at Liberty Leasing said: "We spoke to a number of new brokers on the stand and also caught up with many of our supporting brokers. Overall the event was very successful for us here at Liberty Leasing and we do hope that the NACFB will be running similar events in other parts of the country in the near future."

Kevin Cooke, Sales & Marketing Director, Business Lending Ltd said: "It was a very good day, both enjoyable and very productive, as well as a very cost effective way of communicating with members in a personal way. It is always a pleasure to spend time talking to like minded colleagues in the world of commercial finance.

We talked in some detail about our products to 20 members with whom we had not previously had direct contact with, as well as meeting with 5 or 6 members we have an ongoing relationship with. Based on those numbers it seems we spent time with about 20% of the attendees which is fantastic in just 5 hours. I would do it again, and if possible I would be happy to do it every other month around the UK."
